Transcript of CBC Radio News Broadcast (4:30 P.M.) Wednesday, December 12, 1990 Krysia Jarmicka, CBC News Police in Peace River have laid charges against 13 people for burning logging equipment at a camp in northern Alberta. The arson happened last month. A truck and a trailer and other equipment were set on fire at the Buchanan logging camp east of Peace River. Police won't release the names of those charged, but there have been rumors that they are Lubicon Indians. The logging equipment was on land claimed by the band. Police say all 13 who have been charged are from the Little Buffalo area, where the Lubicon live. Each is facing four charges: arson, mischief, possession of an explosive and wearing a disguise. A lawyer for the Lubicon Indians says the charges are politically motivated. Bob Sachs says so far no Band members have received a summons. The 13 are scheduled to appear in court next month. ***************************************************************************** For more information contact web:car by e-mail or in writing Aboriginal Rights Support Group Committee Against Racism P.O.
