URGENT!!!! URGENT!!!! URGENT!!!! URGENT!!!! URGENT!!!! URGENT!!!! MESSAGE TO ALL NATIVE SUPPORT GROUPS FROM THE LUBICON LAKE INDIAN NATION September 1, 1990 The Mohawk Nation at Kanestake is currently under siege by the Canadian Army. The Army has taken over the community, and Mohawk Warriors and women and children are currently surrounded in a 200 yard x 100 yard area. Army spokesmen say they are "going to finish phase 2 of their mandate" to take down the barricades and occupy the Mohawk territory tomorrow (Sunday, September 02). Army invasion began Saturday afternoon, with up to 3,000 heavily armed men, armoured personnel carriers, 50 calibre machine guns, helicopters, etc. At several points throughout the invasion, army snipers' rifles were aimed at retreating Mohawks. Mohawks have vowed to defend their last small piece of land, and the lives of their women and children. Army guns continue to be fired throughout this evening, most likely in an attempt to keep the Warriors on edge and force the Warriors to fire, allowing the army to then "respond". The Six Nations Confederacy asks that all concerned people fax or phone Canadian Prime Minister Mulroney and demand that he personally and immediately meet with representatives of the Six Nations Confederacy in order to avoid a bloodbath. Prime Minister Mulroney's fax number is Ottawa, Ontario, 613-957-5632 or 613-957-5579; his phone number in Ottawa is 613-992-4211.
